Hello world, Hello Start-ups!

Maybe you are the victim of a corporate lay-off and have decided you don’t want to rely on someone else to punch your meal ticket. Maybe you are a College senior drop-out with a great idea for a new social media website. Possibly you are a seasoned entrepreneur looking for some help to get to the next level. You might be looking for helpful hints on bootstrapping your business or are entertaining raising venture capital and are looking for a leg up on the business side of things. My long years of start-up failures (learning successes) has taught me a number of things I feel are necessary in a new or young venture. I’m not claiming to be an expert in every area that I post about, but due to my insane curiosity and love of learning I’m sure I can add valuable conversations to all topics.
For the next little while I plan on providing articles that will help you succeed in your business venture. Some of the areas I will explore are financing, corporate set up, Human Resources, Accounting, early marketing efforts, and communication (both internally and with investors). Along the way I’ll produce important checklists, forms and policies and an inspiring story or two. In addition to my regular articles, I will be producing downloadable materials such as VC & legal firm lists and start-up template kits.
I’ve never thought of myself as an “idea” guy until I stumbled upon a great book, Career Renegade by Jonathan Fields and realized that starting a blog that discusses my area of expertise and interest is as valid an idea as Google was to Larry and Serbey. One of the things I love to do is research news items on the web and share what I’ve found.
I’m very excited about providing a high quality experience to my future readers and hope you’ll decide to stick around.
